PROFILE
A
Little More About The Man Himself
DJ
Wanker has been entertaining crowds since he did his first
gig at the age of 14. Quite obviously, he wasn’t called DJ
Wanker in those days. That name became his trademark many
years later. So, why that name? Because
it’s self deprecating and amusing. Far too many DJs are
navel-gazing, pretentious and way up their own backsides.
That’s not an allegation you can aim at this particular
DJ.
His main goal when
behind the decks is to entertain and give the crowd what
they want. He’s also quite happy to laugh at others as
much as he laughs at himself. His micky-taking is
always meant in the right spirit and he hopes others
appreciate it’s not malicious – just light-hearted
banter. Being able to laugh at yourself is important.
He started life as a mobile DJ
– working at private parties and commercial functions –
and then moved into bar and club work in 1997. He spent a
couple of months DJ-ing at a five-star hotel in Egypt and,
on his return, accepted a residency in Scotland. Next up was
a club in Leicester and from there his DJ-ing blossomed.
DJ W has worked across
the UK since 1997 in a variety of venues for a whole host of
the country’s leading pub and nightclub chains.
He’s a versatile DJ whether
it be playing funky house and old skool club classics all
night (which is his favourite), a wide cross section of
commercial chart, dance, R’n’B, pop and party or student
venues into their indie and rock. His key philosophy is: if
you’re going to party, then party hard! And if you’re
going to party hard, make sure DJ Wanker is spinning the
tunes!
Aside from being a world
famous tune spinner and party starter, DJ Wanker is also a
successful journalist, broadcaster and author who goes under
the name of Geoff Peters.
